There are multiple different local groups with environmental objectives in Edmonds. Working separately limits the effectiveness of each. The EAE will be an attempt to communicate with a broad range of citizen organizations and to encourage collective action.

The EAE will encourage advocacy in support of the conservation, ecological, and sustainability issues that affect the citizens of Edmonds, the surrounding region, and future generations. Important missions are to compliment the environmental efforts of local government and to serve as an information exchange for environmental groups.
